Developer CD Projekt Red has announced that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will distribute Cyberpunk 2077 in North America.

In a statement on its website, the Polish developer said: “CD Projekt Red, creator and publisher of The Witcher series of games, is excited to announce that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a global leader in the entertainment industry, will distribute the studio’s highly anticipated role-playing game, Cyberpunk 2077, in North America.”

Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt Red’s SVP of Business Development, said: “We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence.” Kevin Kebodeaux, Senior Vice President, Sales, Americas at WBIE, added: “CD Projekt Red is one of the best game development studios in the world and it’s great to be working with the team again. Cyberpunk 2077 is a standout title and we are expecting great things from our continued collaboration.”

Futuristic open-world RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the world’s most anticipated games, but is currently not far enough into its development for CD Projekt Red to have announced a likely release date. You can keep an eye on the game’s website for more news.

Meanwhile, it’s not all plain sailing at CD Projekt Red: as Variety reports, Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, who wrote the books on which the Witcher series of games are based, is seeking to extract £12 million in royalties from CD Projekt Red for said games. CD Projekt Red paid Sapkowski for the rights in the early 2000s, but he now claims those rights extend only to the first Witcher game, and has engaged lawyers accordingly.

In a statement on its website, CD Projekt Red rejected Sapkowski’s claims as: “Groundless”.
