- Last night in Canada, “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes” closed out the final day of its North American theatrical run. Buoyed by demand from audiences and exhibitors alike, the film screened for a total of 17 days – more than three times longer than its original five-day limited release. This first ever, feature film from the global hit anime franchise “My Hero Academia,” grossed an astounding $5,768,366 at the box office.
- In total, the movie’s extended run encompassed 556 theatres across the U.S. and Canada and offered moviegoers both the Japanese language (English subtitles) and English Dub versions of the film. Since debuting at #23 on opening night, “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes” has catapulted up the list to end its theatrical run as #10 on the Top 10 list of highest grossing domestic anime films of all time – surpassing “The Wind Rises” ($5.2M) by legendary director Hayao Miyazaki.
- “My Hero Academia” concludes its third season this weekend on the heels of a record-breaking 2017 as the anime industry’s most awarded series. These accolades included IGN’s “Best of 2017 – Anime of the Year” and “2017 People’s Choice – Anime of the Year” awards, seven top honors at the 2017 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, ComicBook.com’s “2017 Golden Issue Award for Best Shonen Series” and the #1 spot on Anime News Network’s “Best of 2017 Mega Poll” as well as GameSpot’s “Top Ten Anime of 2017.”
