After a few pop-ups over the years, The Pokémon Company opened the first permanent Pokémon Cafe at The Pokémon Center Tokyo DX & Pokémon Cafe in the Takashimaya Department Store Nihonbashi. The endeavor was a major success as nearly 100,000 hungry trainers have shuffled in for a bite to eat since the location opened on March 14.
The cafe seats 140 eaters at a time and visitors will be hard-pressed to find a seat without making a reservation first. Menu items include the frequently requested “Pikachu’s Greedy Plate” that serves up a salad and finger foods for 1,706 yen. Eaters that clear their plate will reveal Pikachu’s face on the plate underneath. Visitors can also choose Eevee’s Teriyaki Chicken Burger, Peppy Pikachu Curry, Snorlax’s Stuffed Stomach!! Hamburger in the Doria, and Hide & Seek Pikachu Carbonara.
October also ushers in special spooky plates featuring a costumed Pikachu, Ghastly, Tangela, and Golbat. Special table mats and coasters depicting Pokémon dressed in all their best costumes will be handed out with food purchases until October 31. The design is dubbed “We Are Team Treat!” and can also be found at Pokémon Centers nationwide, and yes, that includes adorable plushies.
