FUNimation Entertainment announced on Wednesday that it is adding two more days of screenings for the My Hero Academia: Two Heroes anime film in the United States “due to popular demand.” Different theaters will screen either the subtitled version or the dubbed version based on local demand.
In Canada, additional screenings will take place on October 5-11.
Funimation already screened the film in more than 400 theaters in the United States and Canada on September 25, 26, 27, 29 and October 2. As of Monday, October 1, the film had earned US$4,106,822 in the United States, according to Box Office Mojo.
Funimation and TOHO hosted a world premiere of the film with English subtitles at Anime Expo on July 5. The film opened in Japan on August 3. It earned 500,320,000 yen (about US$4.49 million) in its first three days and ranked #4 in its opening weekend. It has since earned more than 1.5 billion yen (about US$13.46 million) at the Japanese box office. The English dub version had a red carpet premiere at the Regal Cinema L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on September 13.
