Montreal convention Otakuthon reported to ANN that it had a total of 23,226 attendees, based on the number of badges, including guests, exhibitors, panelists, press, volunteers, and staff in addition to general paid attendees.

The staff also reported a turnstile attendance of 56,676. This number was reached by totaling the amount of badges sold for each day of the convention (meaning three-day badges would be counted three times). In addition, the staff calculated a “checked in” turnstile count by totaling the number of people who checked in every hour, not counting people who checked out within the same hour — this total was 124,396.

The bilingual convention was held from August 3-5. The event’s Japanese guests included musicians fhána (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid), Lia (Angel Beats!), Shiena Nishizawa (Kan Colle), and Maidreamin, as well as former Studio Ghibli production desk Hirokatsu Kihara and CyberConnect2 president and director Hiroshi Matsuyama.
