Ben Daglish, known for composing music on 1980s classics like Cobra, The Last Ninja, and Trap, has died age 52.
Daglish was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015 but overcame the illness, even using it as inspiration for a live show in 2016.
In a statement on Facebook (via Eurogamer), the family said: “We are all at home feeling loved and supported, and our thoughts are with all of you who knew, loved, got irritated by and were lucky enough to have a little bit of his magic in your lives.”
According to his music page on Facebook, Daglish died suddenly on October 1 after the cancer returned.
Tributes are now being paid to the influential composer who produced work for games on the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC.
Llamasoft founder Jeff Minter described Daglish as an “amazing talent and an absolutely lovely bloke”.
Colleague and friend Chris Abbott said: “The world needs more like Ben, not less.”
