Tour launches September 24 in Tokyo, Japan
Wakana Ootaki of singing unit Kalafina announced on Saturday during the “Kalifina ‘Wakana’・Ryu Masaki Symphony Concert with Orchestra di Roma Italia” event at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall that she will launch her solo career with a solo concert tour starting on September 24 in Tokyo, Japan at the EX Theater.
The official Line blog for Kalafina listed that Wakana will also perform at the Momochi Palace in her home town of Fukuoka on September 28, Performing Arts Center in Nagoya on October 2, and IMP Hall in Osaka on October 14. General admission tickets will go on sale on September 8 and will cost 7,500 yen (about US$68).
Singer Keijo Kubota left the female singing unit Kalafina on April 1. The official website had revealed that the other two singers Wakana and Hikaru Masai would continue to work on musical activities.
Yuki Kajiura, the founder of Kalafina, left the Space Craft Produce agency in February. Space Craft Produce stated to Oricon News after Kajiura’s departure that Kalafina will continue working under the company.
Kajiura started the Kalafina music group in 2007 to perform the theme songs for The Garden of Sinners anime films. Kajiura produced, composed, and wrote the lyrics for most of the group’s songs. The group started out with four members, with two of the four members — Keiko Kubota and Wakana — having previously worked with Kajiura under her FictionJunction project. Maya Toyoshima left the group in 2009.
The group has performed theme songs for such anime as Sound of the Sky, Aldnoah.Zero, Black Butler, Time of Eve, Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, and Katsugeki! Tōken Ranbu. The group has released 21 singles and six studio albums.
The group performed their 10th anniversary concert at the Budokan in January, and had a 10th anniversary film that screened in select theaters in Japan from March 30 to April 12.
