Earlier this summer at E3, Sony announced that this year’s release of God of War would soon be receiving a New Game+ option to allow players to play through the game once again with all of their gear and upgrades intact. Now, we know just when this update will be rolling out and its sooner than you might think.
Sony revealed today that New Game+ will finally be making its way into God of War on August 20. This will, of course, be a free update for the game and will be accessible for those who have already finished the story in God of War. As for what else will be included in this update, Santa Monica Studios stated that there will be new gear, resources, more difficult enemies with “trick up their sleeves”, and the ability to now skip through cinematics — but seriously though, who would do that?
On a personal front, I’ve been thinking about replaying God of War a lot recently and this New Game+ option might finally get me to jump back in. I’ve been down to experience the great story that Sony Santa Monica crafted all over again, but with enemy variations and new items coming into play, this might finally push me over the edge.
If you still haven’t played God of War for yourself, then you probably should as we gave it our highest score possible in our review here at DualShockers. Then again, there’s probably a good chance you’ve played it since God of War is the fastest selling PlayStation exclusive of all-time.
